Advancing research and medical education

Wayne Health physicians and researchers are also faculty at Wayne State University School of Medicine who conduct basic, translational and clinical research. This makes the latest treatments and clinical trials available to you sooner than other providers without a medical school affiliation, and before FDA approval or commercial availability.  Some current research initiatives include:

Translational Neuroscience Research Initiative – The goal of this program is to recruit highly talented researchers and inspire interdisciplinary investigations that focus on cutting edge clinical and basic neuroscience studies.

Epilepsy Research – Interests include management of status epilepticus, unique mechanisms of seizure detection, seizure safety and education, and epilepsy in special populations, including pregnant females, elderly and those with other neurological conditions.

Multiple Sclerosis Research – Wayne Health faculty at Wayne State University are world leaders in Multiple Sclerosis research and have many clinical trials available. Research conducted at WSU’s state-of-the art Image Processing and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) laboratories focuses on the use of novel technology to better understand the loss of nerve tissue and find new therapeutic approaches.
