Overview

Wayne Health's approach to treatment

At Wayne Health, we draw upon the resources of the Wayne State University School of Medicine’s renowned Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences, as well as other sub-specialists and professionals within our provider network, to offer comprehensive evaluation and treatment for older patients with mental health concerns.

We are also affiliated with WSU’s Institute of Gerontology, a premier program focused on research, advanced pre- and post-doctoral student training, community outreach, and continuing education for health care providers and caregivers on issues affecting older adults.

Through a Connecting Seniors partnership administered by United Way for Southeastern Michigan, and funded by a grant from the Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities, Wayne Health physicians provide physical and mental health care for older adults and caregivers across Detroit using telehealth technologies. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience also offers compassionate care training for caregivers of older adults, as well as mental health screening.

Advancing research and medical education

Wayne Health physicians and researchers are also faculty members of the Wayne State University School of Medicine who conduct research and clinical studies. This makes the latest treatments and clinical trials available to you sooner than other health providers without a medical school affiliation. We are fully committed to innovative research that advances care and treatment in behavioral health.
