Wayne Health Obstetrics and Gynecology Doctors and Providers

Why choose Wayne Health for obstetrics and gynecology?

Wayne Health’s Obstetrics and Gynecology team offers a wide scope of services addressing health concerns across a woman’s lifetime – from pre-reproductive care, to care throughout her childbearing and post-menopausal years. Our specialty services for women include a wide range of minimally invasive surgeries, urogynecology (incontinence) care, midwifery, family planning, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, gynecologic cancer and complicated (high risk) pregnancy care. Our physicians and researchers are faculty members of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and are consistently rated among the best in the nation, committed to providing the most individualized patient care and the most up-to-date innovations and treatments. This leadership position stems from their roles as instructors of future physicians and researchers at one of the nation’s top medical schools.

Women’s Health services are foundational to the new Center for Population Health Accountability (CPHA) at Wayne Health’s 400 Mack Ave. headquarters in Midtown Detroit. There, women will be able to improve their overall health by accessing an integrated continuum of primary medical and behavioral care. Through the CPHA, Wayne Health will offer a full spectrum of integrated care from birth to end-of-life (300 providers in 51 specialties), supported by partnerships with community organizations who will collaborate with us in addressing social issues and health disparities, such as poverty, housing, transportation and access to medications and healthy food.

Our maternal and fetal specialists manage high-risk pregnancies, to keep the baby healthier and decrease the likelihood of premature birth.

Our fertility and endocrinology specialists can help determine what factors may be causing fertility issues and work with you on a personalized approach for your reproductive challenges.

Our gynecologic oncologists work with a team of cancer specialists throughout southeast Michigan to provide treatment plans specific to each patient’s needs. Team members are sought-after experts in cancers of the uterus, ovaries and cervix.

Advancing research and medical education

Wayne Health physicians and researchers who are faculty at Wayne State University School of Medicine conduct basic research and clinical studies that make the latest treatments and clinical trials available to you sooner than other health providers without a medical school affiliation.

The Perinatology Research Branch (PRB) is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Wayne State University to improve the health care of mothers and their children through research in perinatal medicine and related disciplines. Its goal is to develop treatments to reduce adverse pregnancy outcomes, infant mortality and disability as well as to provide research training for physicians, scientists and other health care professionals. The PRB educates 40 residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology, one of the largest programs in the country, as well as six fellows in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

In 1999, WSU’s department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was recognized by the NIH with funding for one of the first Women’s Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Career Development Centers in the United States.

The WRHR, residency program and the Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship program all help to ensure exceptional patient care and support research for the advancement of knowledge in obstetrics.
