Is there a magic number for vaccination rate? from WXYZ

June 23, 2021

As people resume a more normal way of living, the vaccination rate continues to play a key role. Dr. Teena Chopra, corporate medical director of infectious disease prevention at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center, said there isn’t really a ‘magic number’ when it comes to the vaccination rate, and that it’s important to continue to be mindful of individual safety protocols because while some restrictions are gone, COVID-19 is not. “As long as we strive for getting more people vaccinated, I think we’re moving in the right direction,” Chopra said. “We’re at the lowest number of cases for the entire time period that we’ve been living with COVID. Hopefully by September, we’ll have vaccines for the younger age groups as well…The fact that all vaccinated individuals can go to work and do the things that they enjoy doing is a testament to science. I think we should keep up that work, and it should inspire more people to get vaccinated.”
