Meet the provider: Ayaz Khawaja, M.D.

Ayaz Khawaja, M.D., Department of Neurology, has special interest in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, neuro critical care, cerebrovascular diseases, traumatic brain injury and COVID-19.

Dr. Khawaja completed his medical school training at King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan in 2011. He completed a neurology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital in 2016 as well as a neurocritical care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2018.

Dr. Khawaja served as a postdoctoral research scholar at Brigham and Women’s Hospital from 2018-2019 before joining the staff at Wayne Health and WSU. He is board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (2016) and is Board Eligible with the United Council of Neurosciences for Neurocritical care. Dr. Khawaja will serve as a Neurohospitalist and consultant at Harper University Hospital and Karmanos Cancer Institute, and as a Neurohospitalist, consultant and Neurointensivist at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
