Meet the Provider: Tsveti Markova, M.D.

Tsveti Markova, M.D., department of Family Medicine, is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Markova has special interests in chronic disease management, preventive medicine and women’s health.

Dr. Markova is a professor in the department of Family Medicine and Public Health sciences for the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Throughout her career, Dr. Markova has pursued innovative initiatives to advance medical education and research. Her projects are closely associated with changes in health care delivery, quality improvement and safety, health care financing and the use of technology. One of her most rewarding projects was to align graduate medical education (GME) with quality improvement and safety strategies. She also championed a multilayered physician wellbeing initiative.

Along with her projects, Dr. Markova played a role in the development of the state-funded MIDOCS program to create new primary care residency slots in underserved communities in Michigan. She is very passionate about this program because it encourages medical students to consider primary care and family medicine in rural and urban areas with a strong commitment to overall community health.
