DETROIT — Several community groups from across the Metro Detroit region are hosting a free health event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Health screenings, community and resources and COVID-19 testing and vaccinations will be among things offered at the event, which will take place at the Detroit Mack Health Center, 400 Mack Ave. The event is sponsored by Wayne Health and Molina Healthcare and is part of the 2021 Metro Detroit Heart and Stroke Walk/Run.

“The Wayne Health team has long worked to improve care delivery and well-being of people in the Detroit community, providing medical and behavioral services while also addressing social issues impacting health,” said Phillip Levy, the Chief innovation officer with Wayne Health. “We are thrilled to partner with so many other like-minded, area nonprofits in this event offering a wide array of preventive care, screenings and community resources for COVID-19 and beyond.”

Pfizer vaccines will be offered to people 12 and older at the event. COVID-19 testing, blood pressure screenings, HIV testing, blood lead level testing and diabetes, cholesterol and kidney function screenings also will take place.

Free fresh produce bags, boxed lunches, activity bags for children, face masks, backpacks with school supplies and DTE light bulb kits also will be provided.

“Molina is excited to partner with Wayne Health to provide health screenings, COVID-19 testing, COVID-19 vaccinations, and connecting families to additional care and community resources,” said Heidi McGlinnen, associate vice president, Molina Healthcare of Michigan.
