Wayne State team publishes in CDC journal first report of C. diff infections in COVID-19 patients

A hospital-based infection control team led by UPG’s Teena Chopra, M.D., M.P.H., has published news of a concerning trend in older, severely ill patients testing positive for COVID-19 – they also tested positive for CDI. CDI is a bacteria that causes life-threatening diarrhea. It is usually a side-effect of taking antibiotics.
Dr. Chopra is also a Wayne State University School of Medicine professor of Infectious Diseases and corporate medical director of Infection Prevention Hospital Epidemiology and Antibiotic Stewardship at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center.
