September 17, 2020

The Wayne State University Physician Group, a 300-physician, multispecialty group practice affiliated with the Wayne State University School of Medicine, has a new name: Wayne Health.

Serving the Detroit community since 2000, first as Academic Health Center Services then as WSUPG, the new name, and a new logo featuring the WSU warrior shield, highlights the group’s academic connection with the WSU School of Medicine – one of the nation’s top medical schools, renowned for clinical excellence, medical education, research and service to Detroit’s urban community.

“Our new name and logo signal a bold, new vision focused on providing integrated whole-person care that will be realized with the opening of a new multidisciplinary health center in Midtown Detroit later this month,” said Charles J. Shanley, M.D., Wayne Health president and chief executive officer.

The new 400 Mack Detroit Health Center will offer a full range of integrated primary and preventive health services, including specialists in internal medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and behavioral health. Another Wayne State University partner organization, Wayne Pediatrics, is co-locating clinical services for children at the location, completing a continuum of care across the lifecycle at the new 50,0000-square-foot facility.
