Meet the provider: Peter LeWitt, M.D.

Peter LeWitt, M.D., Department of Neurology, has special interest in movement disorders and Parkinson’s Disease.

Dr. LeWitt received his medical school degree from Brown University in 1975. He was first a resident in medicine at the Philadelphia General Hospital, University of Pennsylvania Division, from 1975 to 1976. He was then a resident in neurology at the Stanford University Medical Center in California from 1977 to 1980, being named Chief Resident from years 1979 to 1980. He completed fellowship training in experimental therapeutics at the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders.

Dr. LeWitt has been a founding member of the Parkinson Study Group, an officer of the Movement Disorder Society, and is currently president of the Tremor Research Group. Dr. LeWitt has extensive experience in clinical trials for Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders, and his research interests have also included animal models and biomarkers of neurological disease, pharmacokinetic analysis, and gene therapy for Parkinson’s disease.
