Wayne Health’s Ophthalmology team has years of experience treating and managing a full spectrum of eye conditions, from simple to complex. Our ophthalmologists, who are faculty members at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, practice at the internationally renowned Kresge Eye Institute (KEI) with locations throughout metro Detroit, where we treat more than 100,000 patients annually and perform nearly 5,000 surgical procedures. Patients travel from all over the Midwest to access our highly specialized eye care.
Wayne Health ophthalmologists are committed to eye health and vision preservation. Our team provides expert diagnosis, treatment and management of eye problems and eye disease. We offer state-of-the-art eye care in an efficient, well-coordinated manner, while customizing treatments to the individual needs of each patient.
Our team at the Kresge Eye Institute uses advanced diagnostic testing to assess visual function, and determine a treatment and prognosis for eye diseases. These diagnostic tests assess retinal, optic nerve and visual pathway function This allows us to customize your treatment plan and coordinate care with your other health providers.
Wayne Health physicians and researchers are faculty members at Wayne State University School of Medicine who conduct basic, translational and clinical research. This makes the latest treatments and clinical trials available to you sooner than other providers without a medical school affiliation.
Our ophthalmology research encompasses major areas of vision and neurosciences, focusing on the retina, and other areas of the brain and spinal cord. Infectious disease of the cornea and retina is another strong area of research. Investigators employ state-of-the-art cellular and molecular approaches to understanding human eye disease mechanisms.
